Program Levels

 
 

Level 1: Art Exploration

Level one is a journey of artistic discovery. Here, students learn the basics of hand pressure, use of color, flow of line, and gain proficiency in distinguishing fundamental shapes. Mediums and their characteristics are explored. This builds hand- eye coordination and fosters creativity. Whimsical subject matter is encouraged to establish a love of art; with repetition engraining skills into memory.

 
 

Level 2: Precision and Progress

Level two is dedicated to refining basic skills. Students receive critique aimed at enhancing the quality of their lines, honing their grasp of hand pressure, and emphasizing the creation of smooth, directed flow of color. Challenges include blending, and drawing from references to gain an understanding of anatomy and composition. Exploring proportion and value expand their artistic repertoire.

 
 

Level 3: Mastery and Realism

At level three, both anatomy and composition skill sets become essential, as Realism is the focal point. Constructive critiques are provided to improve these vital areas. Enhanced methods are introduced, while the importance of patience in managing creative frustrations is emphasized. Students explore the use of professional-grade papers and mediums to elevate their work.

 

Level 4: Depth and Versatility

Level four students learn the art of point perspective, and explore architectural modeling. This level covers three dimensional sketching techniques through the use of graphite, charcoal, colored pencil and pastel. Advanced painting methods are developed in watercolor and acrylic, ensuring they become well-rounded artists.

 

Level 5: Portfolio Development

During level five, students begin crafting their graduation portfolios. We encourage captivating still-life compositions by compositing visual elements to produce unique and portfolio-worthy pieces. Printmaking techniques are explored. Competitions are encouraged, providing opportunities for growth and recognition.

 

Level 6: Artistic Identity

Level six signifies a phase of independent study to develop each artist’s unique style. Students work in their favorite mediums and study masterworks. This level nurtures the young professional artist by empowering them to express their creativity with confidence.
